Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of hurricane Sandy on the East coast. The devastation from Sandy is staggering, with estimates of at least 121 deaths reported, most of them in New York and New Jersey. The deaths resulted not only from those who were caught in the winds and trapped by debris, but also from fires that cropped up due to gas leaks. In addition to deaths, the storm has left about 1.3 million people without electricity and communication, according to the Department of Energy.
