Court Appointed Service Elective (CASE)

The CASE program assists adults and juveniles who have been sentenced to perform community service following convictions for misdemeanors, traffic offenses, and violations of local ordinances. While it can be difficult for people in such circumstances to find volunteer opportunities and repay their debt to society, HOSC uses its connections with the nonprofit and volunteering community to place them in the right opportunity.

If you are someone who is looking for help meeting your service requirement or if you represent someone who is interested in our services, contact CASE manager Kathleen Kerman at 847-228-1320 x115, or fill out an online application form so she can contact you.

The process for a CASE volunteer is as follows:

  • You must answer a few eligibility questions and pay our $40 appointment fee. You may pay this fee online.
  • Once payment is received, the interview is scheduled and different partner agencies will be contacted to determine a convenient site that agrees to supervise your community service hours.
  • During the interview at HOSC your legal documents will be reviewed to verify your situation.
  • You will pay a placement fee of $1 for each hour of community service and receive your referral information.
  • Finally you will be asked to sign a CASE Agreement which states that you intend to complete your community service at the site located for you.
