Wheeling Area Youth Outreach benefits from day of service

The Volunteer Center and Physician Sales and Service Partner up to Hold Service Event for Greater Wheeling Area Youth Outreach
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL (August 5, 2010) — The Volunteer Center of Northwest Suburban Chicago (TVC) recently coordinated their first customized corporate service event for Physician Sales and Service (PSS) in support of the Greater Wheeling Area Youth Outreach (GWAYO) to address the needs of the local after-school tutoring program. The "Helping GWAYO Get There!" event brought all three groups together at Willow Trails Park in Prospect Heights on Thursday, Aug. 5, to refurbish GWAYO's vans by replacing seats, providing new signage and cleaning the interiors and exteriors of the vehicles.
Regional employees for Physician Sales and Service, based in Elgin, gathered for a day of service before a sales meeting. PSS donated all the funds for the project, in addition to participating in games and working side by side with some of GWAYO's students.

"Volunteering with TVC and GWAYO was very rewarding! We had a great time cleaning the vans and getting to know the kids. The whole experience was just phenomenal!" stated Robin Dudasik, sales leader for PSS Chicago.

The 15 passenger vans are a vital part of GWAYO's program. They provide transportation for the students from school to the program site and back to their homes.

"PSS's donation and efforts will really help us start the upcoming school year with something fresh and new for our young students," said Philip Herman, executive director of GWAYO.

Participants also enjoyed food donated by Francesca's Tavola of Arlington Heights and Salerno's Pizza of Mount Prospect.
