Gobble-gobble. I will be working from home two days during this short week. Got an email from Judge Kate McGury that sounds promising re CASE. Kate says that she knows the presiding Judge at the Skokie courts very well, so maybe we have an in there and can get CASE brochures distributed from there.

Last week I spent fixing the WYSIWYG module, worked with Drupal’s self-updating program Cron, Updated the AddThis module, and spent a lot of time on the two menus, mostly our sidebar menu “Volunteer NOW!”. The main menu is giving me some grief, I’m not quite experienced enough in CSS to hack the menu I’d like to use and the table/block menu looks sloppy.
I’m gone for Thanksgiving break on Tuesday but I’d like to make some progress with the table/block menu, it might be awhile before I’m proficient enough in CSS to work with my prefered menu.

Today is my sister Sara’s birthday! This week I plan to send a new letter to the presiding Judge at the 3rd Circuit Court of Cook County in Rolling Meadows. The letter will explain CASE, how it works and how CASE could benefit the Cook County courts. Judge Urso was the presiding judge last year. I’ll have to determine if he still holds that position. I also plan to send a similar letter to the presiding Judge at the 2nd Circuit Court of Cook County in Skokie.

Last week I continued theme-hacking the acquia_marina theme we choose, I successfully installed and fixed the image module, installed cck and immediately broke the site. It didn’t take long to restore however, thanks to my OCD-like backup habits. We redesigned the main navigation and decided to switch from a drop down navigation to a box-like navigation. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a mondule with this and for some reason Drupal decided it didn’t want to play well with HTML as far as tables go. I also finished my first e-newsletter and received a fair amount of constructive criticism.
This week I intend to install the formitable CCK module, I think I’ve figured it out now, I’m going to tackle our navigation problem with CSS instead of HTML and maybe, if our front page looks good enough, start documenting its code.

Ciao. My plant seems to be real because Linda M waters it.
CASE is s-l-o-w this month. There was one new client on Monday, and a client is working CSH this afternoon at TVC. I must monitor the other CASE clients and process two new agencies that are becoming members of CASE.

We’ve been slaving away on the Hand’s On grant the past couple of weeks. Fortunately, its coming along swimmingly, but it is by far the most challenging grant we’ve worked on to date. In other grant news, The Chicago Community Trust LOI is due this week, and we’ve begun identifying and drafting proposals for other funders of the leadership volunteer program. Until next week…

After a lot of theme and module hacking we decided on acquia marina and am currently hacking several feautres. Also did some work for a client who’ll pay the TVC for the redesigning of her website. This week I’d like to finish the website, populate it, and complete most if not all of a newsletter. My coworkers will probably see these goals as a little too optomistic but we’ll see.

I helped Norbert G. change his CASE referral this morning; hope that works out better for him. Wednesday appears to be biggest day this week because I need to monitor Nick M. doing community service work here that pm and there is a Resale Shop Managers mtg that pm, also. I must finish the thank you’s/outreaches to political people who attended the RSVP Luncheon.

Last week I took what I learned from my Drupal seminar but unfortunately one of the modules that was highly recommended, one that could really help our site won’t install resulting in my computer begging to be hit with a hard blunt object. I also found a client who would be willing to give a donation to TVC if I were to redesign her website.
During this weekend I received an email from Scott suggesting we scrap the work I’ve done with Drupal and use another program called dotnetnuke. I hate to admit it and I certainly hate to do away with all the progress I’ve done with Drupal but this new program does in fact look like it’d be a better route. So I plan on adding it to a sandbox and seeing what it’s capable of this week.
